What does a typical day look like in your role or secondment?
Providing solutions for the current Storm Spill reduction programme set by Northumbrian Water as well as bespoke schemes. Providing drawings, reports and assessing the health and safety impact to design decisions. An additional element is project managing schemes ensuring deliverables are met from multidisciplinary teams.
What training or education have you received at Waterman Aspen?
Regular catch ups with specialist staff when needed for help on technical queries. Lunch and learn sessions have been valuable to my WA and Secondment role.
What’s the best thing about working for Waterman Aspen?
The feeling of being able to shape your career in a clear and defined manner. The ability to choose a secondment that suits your professional need, backed up by a training and support system to help you get there.
What would you say to someone interested in a career in your role?
For an Area Manager role it is more time-consuming but rewarding when you find a new employee and get them placed in a secondment. In my engineering role its a lot of spinning plates, but similarly to the area management role, very rewarding when you can complete tasks, deliverables and projects!
