Tom Mensah – Assistant Project Manager
What made you join WA? It’s a very different way of working. You join with a set of skills, and you use them to help a portfolio of Clients solve real world problems. When you’re good at your job Clients respect your input and being seconded as an expert at what I do puts me in a unique position to help shape the way businesses and projects are run.
Have you been involved in education or training? Since joining Waterman Aspen 2yrs ago, I have completed a suite of contract, programme and commercial management training. These have ranged from NEC Accreditations, MSP, PMI and Finance.
What secondments have been most interesting and why? Since joining Waterman Aspen I have been seconded at High Speed Two. As a member of the Enabling Works Contracts Programme Leadership Team, I am in a unique position to help shape the way we deliver over £1bn worth of work. I have a say in the way High Speed Two manages its requirements through the supply chain, and I act as the go to person on EWC for advice to inform strategy for both future and current contracts in High Speed Two.
What are the best aspects of working for WA? Hard work pays off. It’s great to see being rewarded by the company for the amount of effort you put in your secondments. I also have a great relationship with my Line Manager and Divisional Director who are always there to support my development and family commitments.
Why would you recommend working for WA? Waterman Aspen works well for you if you’re accomplished, confident and willing to improve at what you do. If you feel you have these qualities, get in touch and we’ll be glad to get you on board!
