Meena CheemaWhat made you join WA? I had been with my previous employer for nearly 13 years and I felt it was time for a change. WA offered me a fantastic opportunity by enabling me to work on high profile projects which is challenging and allows career progression which I was not getting with my previous employer.

Have you been involved in education or training?  Being a WA Area Manager I actively support my staff to achieve their degree and professional qualifications in any way that I can. This may include organising specific training and/or making sure that they have a mentor to help guide them towards attaining their professional qualifications. It is really important to me and the company to develop and train my staff.

What secondments have been most interesting and why?  Am I currently seconded to Atkins working on the Euston Station Enabling Works as part of the High Speed 2 Rail Project (HS2). Euston Station is having to make fundamental changes due to its interface with HS2. Being able to work on a project like this and playing a part in delivering some of these changes is both exciting and rewarding!

What are the best aspects of working for WA?  I love the flexibility that WA has given me. When a scheme or project comes to an end I can change where I work or who I work with instead of having to change employer. The benefit of having the management team as support is very helpful if needed and the staff socials are great fun!

Why would you recommend working for WA? I believe that WA genuinely look after their staff making sure everybody is happy. They offer a variety of interesting work whilst also offering a competitive salary. The management team is brilliant and will support and develop you throughout your career.
