Mark Woodhead – Associate Director North West
What made you join WA?
I was seeking a new challenge and was interested in being part of a team that was actively involved in growing the business. Being given the responsibility and trust of the company to speak with clients and grow opportunities has been very rewarding. The ability to keep my hand in a secondment/technical role which I still enjoy, whilst learning about the business without reams of red tape has been a breath of fresh air. You could say I now have best of both worlds, I often speak with managers who no longer get to complete technical work and spend their days form filling and financial reporting.
Have you been involved in education or training?
I attend regular management meetings and staff resource /issues are discussed openly and frankly, the regular appraisals with staff provide the platform for training needs to be discussed and actions taken. The ability and willingness to seek new roles for members of staff also adds to training and experience you can expect working for Waterman Aspen.
What secondments have been most interesting and why?
I am still part of a long term secondment which I was part of when I joined Waterman Aspen. I have found a new trust and interest in the project I am delivering from Waterman Aspen. My manager speaks with me regularly and is very interested in the work I am undertaking and if I am still happy doing the role.
What are the best aspects of working for WA?
To work for a company that actively puts your needs at the forefront of your career development has been fantastic. All companies have to understand their markets and keep clients happy, I have found Waterman Aspen are able to do this, whilst not being afraid to move employees onto new projects if it benefits the employee.
Why would you recommend working for WA?
Flexibility, Variety and Trust are the main reasons I would recommend WA. On top of which there is a real team spirit that reminds you that your contribution is really appreciated.
