Richard Fenton recently completed his Waterman Aspen in the Community day, volunteering at The Shed at Salford Foundation.
His task was to firstly paint a grey undercoat, followed by yellow anti-slip paint on the outside staircase for the organisation’s office building. As some of the steps are at head height (when walking at ground level) the outside faces and underneath sides of the steps were painted yellow to improve visibility. He also painted the edges of the step outside the fire exit door, as these were previously easy to miss.
The charity employs visually-impaired staff, who have previously struggled to navigate this area of the premises, so hopefully this will make a difference to everyone’s safety.
Well done to Richard on such a productive volunteering day.
