Celebrating excellence in Manchester

For over 30 years, Waterman Aspen has proudly supported Manchester City Council in delivering vital projects – from highways and bridge assessments to project management, site supervision, and the Metrolink extensions.

This year, we were delighted to give something back by sponsoring a category at the Manchester Awards for Excellence 2025, an event that shines a spotlight on the incredible contributions of Manchester City Council colleagues to the people of our city.

Our Regional Director for the North West, Mark Woodhead, who has himself completed several secondments with Manchester City Council, joined the judging panel for the Project Team of the Year Award. On the day, Mark had the honour of presenting the award to the inspiring winners: Keep Manchester Tidy.

Their collaborative and innovative work sets the benchmark for tackling environmental challenges – from leading Manchester’s biggest-ever Great British Spring Clean with over 100 events and thousands of volunteers, to empowering young people through the Eco-Schools programme, helping 30 schools achieve Green Flag status. A true example of partnership in action, transforming communities and leaving a lasting impact.

It was an inspiring afternoon celebrating the dedication of Manchester’s public servants. Congratulations to all those shortlisted – and a special well done to Keep Manchester Tidy for their outstanding achievement!
