We’re wishing a huge congratulations to Assistant Engineer, Antony Clewes, for completing his degree and achieving Incorporated Engineer Status (IEng). Antony commented below on what was required during the process and the next steps for him in his career:
“I sat my apprenticeship End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of September, having completed my studies with the University of Wolverhampton for my BEng (Hons) in the June, achieving a first classification.
In order to sit the EPA, I was required to have signed off all the Incorporated Engineer attributes, as well as the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs) covered by the apprenticeship standard, of which the Waterman Group was one of the companies who developed the standard. I also had to submit a 5,000 word report on a scheme or schemes that I had recently worked on. The scheme I had chosen was called Donnington Wood Way LDO, which was the design of two signalised junctions and a separate signalised crossing for two new housing developments being constructed in Donnington, Telford and of which I was a member of the highways design team.
On the day, I was required to give a 15-minute presentation, the subject of which was accessibility in urban environments for the blind and partially sighted and how I had included this theme into my designs for the Donnington Wood Way scheme. The presentation was then followed by a one-hour interview and then a two-hour exam in which I had to write an essay for three questions, the themes for these questions were management, health and safety, and sustainability.
Upon successful completion of my EPA, I have been accepted into the ICE as a full member, moving up from a graduate member, and approved as an Incorporated Engineer. Next step, finish my Masters and then go for Chartership.”
This is a fantastic achievement for Antony as he progresses with us at Waterman Aspen – a huge well done!
