The Role…

The role within your chosen secondment will involve:

  • Delivering/reviewing FRA/FCA, SFRA/SFCA, Surface water drainage strategies / designs, local flood risk and surface water management plans.
  • Delivering flood investigation work including producing Section 19 Flood Investigations.
  • Supporting flood alleviation scheme work including supporting appraisal work for business cases (using the 5 case model) and knowledge of partnership funding.
  • Responding to customer and business queries and requests for information.
  • Undertaking stakeholder engagement both internally and externally on projects.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree (Flood Risk / Planning / Geography / Oceanography/Marine Science/Environment Sciences or Engineering).
  • Chartered or working towards chartership e.g. ICE or CIWEM.

Experience required for successful application

  • Experience of managing and analysing large complex datasets (this may be in Excel or similar software).
  • Experience of writing technical and non-technical reports for a range of flood studies.
  • Awareness of relevant legislation, planning policy, guides and design standards relating to flood risk management and drainage strategies.
  • Experience of using GIS software using either: QGIS, ArcGIS, MapInfo.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse team.
  • Desirable to have good experience in 1 or more of these areas: project management, hydraulic modelling (ICM, Flood Modeller, Tuflow) or hydrology estimation.
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable.
