Our specialism is the employment of our multi-disciplined staff providing our public sector clients and consultant partners with experienced technical staff throughout the UK. Our core offering is in the infrastructure sector although we also support clients in the environmental, water, buildings and rail sectors.

Starting your career with Waterman Aspen as an Area Manager for Water and Environment South, you will support and contribute to the management and growth of the Environment team.  You will play a key role in business development including building relationships with new and existing clients, recruitment and management of staff – all while performing a technical role on secondment to a client.

The Role…

  • In addition to performing a technical secondment role, as an Area Manager your duties will include:
  • Assisting the Water and Environment South team lead in management and growth of the Environment team
  • Being a champion of Waterman Aspen’s vision, core values and mission
  • Assisting in the recruitment, training and development of team members
  • Strategic business development, research, identification and development of key clients
  • Contributing to the day-to-day running of a growing organisation
  • Helping to influence the management and growth of WA in the future
  • Being part of the ‘Management Team’ (Regional and National)
  • Working closely with company Directors / Regional Directors

Experience required for successful application

  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • A positive outlook and enthusiastic attitude
  • Acting professionally and comfortable amongst seniors, peers and juniors
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Experience in managing teams across disciplines
  • Experience in business development
  • An ability to ‘see the bigger picture’ and understand the consequences of decisions
  • Experience in people management
  • UK experience within the private or public environment sector such as an environmental consultancy, public body or corporate environmental officer
  • Awareness and understanding of best practices for one or more of the following: EIA, environmental project management, contaminated land assessment, environmental due diligence.
  • Chartered or working towards chartership with a relevant professional body
  • Degree in a related technical field (environmental/civil engineering) or equivalent experience
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable
