Waterman Aspen is the result of almost a quarter of a century of expansion and growth and today we are regarded as one of the leading secondment and outsourcing consultancies for the engineering industry.

Throughout our history we have evolved to expand our offering to clients and ensure we have the processes and infrastructure in place to deliver the highest level of service and support for all their project requirements.

1988

Aspen Associates is founded in the South East of England at a time when the construction industry in the region was booming, thanks in part to the construction of the Channel Tunnel in Kent. The firm enjoys rapid growth and expands throughout the rest of the country.

1990

Aspen Associates secures Dippen Hall near Lingfield, Surrey as its Head Office and fast-becomes one of the leading recruitment and secondment specialists for highways, bridges and traffic engineering projects in the UK.

1996

Following a period of continued growth Aspen acquires two smaller consultancies which bolsters their staffing levels to 170. By the end of 1996, Aspen assumed control over the UK interest of the Dutch-based multi-national and multi-disciplinary DHV Consultants. This move brought with it an additional 130 staff and prompted the creation of the newly named Aspen Consulting Group.

2000

Further acquisitions strengthen Aspen’s position. Peter Stephen & Partner’s, an Edinburgh based structural engineering practice, becomes the latest addition to the growing Group and enables Aspen to launch the secondment operations in Scotland.

2001

Aspen Consulting Group was acquired by Waterman Group – an international consultancy providing multi-disciplinary services to the property, infrastructure, energy and environmental markets throughout the world. Waterman Group was founded in 1952. Having forged a niche within the private sector the firm was looking to diversify its operations into the public sector – Aspen Consulting Group provided this opportunity.

2001 Onwards

The newly named Waterman Aspen, operating as a separate company within the Waterman Group, has continued to grow to become not only a key player within the Group but also a leader within the secondment and outsourcing industry.
