Experience required…  

Essential: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related field from a recognised institution. 
  • Working towards Chartered Membership of a relevant engineering institution (eg. ICE). 
  • Proven experience in maritime civil engineering, particularly in the design and analysis of maritime structures such as sheet piled walls, capping beams, berthing and mooring dolphins, and pontoons. 
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software and tools for design and assessment. 
  • Strong understanding and application of relevant British standards, Eurocodes, and codes of practice for structural design. 
  • Ability to lead and manage maritime structural design packages, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards. 
  • Familiarity with construction materials and their properties, particularly those suitable for marine environments. 
  • Demonstrated experience of delivery of maritime projects and an ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and report writing skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with other engineering disciplines. 

Desirable Experience: 

  • Chartered Membership of a relevant engineering institution (eg. ICE). 
  • Prior experience working for a consultancy, demonstrating an understanding of client-focused project delivery. 
  • Familiarity with environmental impact assessments and sustainability practices in maritime engineering projects. 
  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools, including scheduling and budgeting. 
  • Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop junior engineers.
