Role Responsibilities…

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This includes cost estimation, budget management, contract administration, and ensuring projects are completed within budget and on time. 

 Experience required…

Essential:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, Construction Management, or a related field, or demonstratable experience.  
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quantity surveying. 
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods and materials. 
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills. 
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Valid UK driving license 
  • Experience in calculating quantities from technical drawings for Highways and Civils works in line with the Highways Method of Measurement/CESMM 4. 
  • Production of Cost estimates ranging from order of cost to Pretender estimates. 
  • Pre contract cost reporting to detail movements between estimates 
  • Project Risk register compilation and quantification 
  • Production and Compilation of tender documentation for NEC4 contracts 
  • Experience in delivering value engineering in the design phase to manage project budgets 
  • Undertaking the Commercial evaluation of tender submissions (including levelling of tenders) 
  • Independent commercial management of main contractors under NEC4 Contracts (Option A & C) 
  • Assessment and Negotiation of compensation events 
  • Compensation event client report writing to gain sign off exceeding PM limits 
  • Interim payment valuations against activity schedule for Option A and certification of payment 
  • Assessment of the defined cost incurred and the PWDD for interim valuations on Option C contracts and certification of payments 
  • Early warning management and input into early warning meetings 
  • Assessment of Contractors forecast to completion, reporting likely final account value to the client 
  • Cost reporting for portfolio of Highways projects 
  • Site progress reporting for stakeholder board meetings 
  • Managing the defects correction period and release of retention to contractors 

Desirable:  

  • Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, CIOB, NEC4) is preferred. 
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge and understanding of NEC, FIDIC and JCT conditions.
