Dan O’Neill hosts virtual training for secondment team

Associate Director, Dan O’Neill recently ran some training for his secondment team to share his knowledge on traffic sign design with new staff. Dan explains how he prepped beforehand and what made the training such a huge success:

“In one of my secondments, the team I work in has recently taken on some new staff who have little experience designing traffic signs. To introduce them to traffic signs and point them in the right direction, I put together a short presentation/webinar on how to use TSRGD 2016. The traffic team mostly design signs for use in conjunction with Traffic Regulation Orders, so the presentation was focused in that area. Before I hosted the webinar, I also asked some colleages to sit in on a test run so I was extra prepared for the session.

I was a little nervous beforehand as I hadn’t delivered training to a group via Teams before. I’d definitely recommend hosting a test run-through beforehand as it really helped. The webinar went really well, it was a win-win as it also contributed to their CPD! I’ve now had some interest from my other secondments on hosting similar training for them.

I enjoyed doing it that much that I’m thinking of doing a follow-up session on Traffic Regulation Orders.”
