Waterman set to support Atkins on Highways England improvement schemes across East of England

Waterman are delighted to be selected as strategic partners supporting Atkins on Highways England’s ambitious asset improvement schemes planned for the East of England.

The appointment, worth an initial £49m to Atkins as the Principal Designer, involves delivering the detailed design and associated consulting services.

Highways England’s new Asset Delivery Contract, will see Atkins and Waterman provide technical support during the scheme’s identification phase to determine where improvements to the road network are required.

With a focus on collaboration, the project team will work closely with contractors across the East of England delivery community, ensuring the construction, maintenance and operation of the future road network is designed with safety in mind. The scheme, which is due to commence in January 2020, incorporates strategic routes in Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. The deployment of Atkins’ digital tools and automation will help drive efficiency and reduce costs throughout design development.
