king/queen street project
client - nottingham city council
-
High profile project in Nottingham City Centre which involved laying around 1000 square meters of granite paving and around 500 metres of ducting.
-
The project, located on King Street/Queen Street, Nottingham is an extension of a newly completed area in the Old Market Square which is the heart of the city centre. Similar high quality materials have been used such as Cristal Azul granite paving, mature trees and listed Chinese lanterns. The ducting laid carries electrical infrastructure for outdoor events, tree up-lighters and rising bollards used to control vehicular traffic.
-
The project also incorporates the installation of a statue of Brian Clough, the legendary former Nottingham Forest Manager. Clough, who also managed Hartlepool, Derby, Leeds United and Brighton, died in Derby City Hospital in 2004 at the age of 69. The Brian Clough statue was designed by sculptor Les Johnson who showed him in one of his famous poses with his hands clasped above his head. The statue is made from bronze at a height of 2.4 metres and stands upon a granite stone plinth.
