When did you join WA?  April 2001.
Why did you join?  I liked the idea of job variation by being seconded to different clients.
Current Secondment: Senior Cad Technician. I have a varied workload, for example detailing construction drawings for property services projects e.g. School extensions, refurbishments, disabled access in and around public buildings. I am also involved in coastal protection & flood prevention schemes. Working from architects drawings I have detailed town centre enhancement construction drawings.
I also create bridge maintenance drawings with diversion route plans.
Good bits: Good encouragement to take further qualifications. Competitive remuneration package, very fair employer to work for, good communication links through newsletters, email bulletins and proactive management.
Future Plans: I am nearing completion with an HND Architectural Technology and look forward to more challenging projects with work from property services.

When did you join WA? March 2007.
Why did you join? Zoe met a WA employee at college and he described his role and what working for WA entailed. Zoe thought the opportunity sounded interesting and he put Zoe in touch with WA and the rest is history!
Current Secondment: Zoe is currently a CAD technician in the highways maintenance department, where she produces and prepares drawings for carriageway and footway schemes, car parks and school playground resurfacing. The schemes are enjoyable and not repetitive, providing variety to her job role.
Good bits: she enjoys working at the City Council and enjoys the flexibility of working for WA. The benefits, company car and the social events are also excellent reasons why working for WA is enjoyable, and the social evenings allow you to meet other staff within the company and also make you feel appreciated by WA.
Future Plans: She has just completed her ONC in Civil Engineering and would now like to complete her HNC. She is currently a CAD technician but would like to move up the company to more senior roles. Zoe enjoys the drawing aspect of her work and would eventually like to go into design.
