When did you join WA? January 2005.
Why did you join? I previously worked for Nottingham City Council.  I had a contact who worked for WA.  I followed this up, was interviewed and subsequently accepted their offer.
Current role: I am currently working for a City Council on Private Sector Housing Decent Homes improvement. Decent Homes improvements are made where people have their own houses but find it difficult to maintain these. The City Council supervise works to bring these homes up to standard.  In my management role, I started as an Area Manager with WA and was then promoted to Associate Director. I am now the Associate Director for the Building Team and have numerous staff in the East Midlands area. I am very proud of the team and the low turnover of staff speaks volumes.
Good bits: I enjoy being in charge of projects and meeting clients. I like the variety of my role at the Council and also being a WA manager, and the autonomy of the role is also something I enjoy.
Future plans: The Building team business model is different to the WA core business and I would like to see this model expand and be included in this growth and expansion.

When did you join WA? November 2006.
Why did you join?
I finished my University course in the summer and had spent the previous few months working on a house renovation project with my dad. I applied for the job with Waterman Aspen and was offered the role.
Current role:
I have most recently been working on Public Sector Decent Homes for a Housing Association. This involves bringing the Landlords and Housing Association houses up to the Decent Homes Standard set by the Government. The homes have to meet this standard in order to qualify for the funding available. I am now also working on the Private Sector Decent Homes project for a City Council.
Good bits:
I enjoy working alongside a multi-disciplinary team as it is good experience for me as a graduate looking for personal development. I am also now studying for my RICS structured training agreement. In total it will take me approximately 2 years to complete, after which I will become Chartered. Working for WA, I enjoy the varied social activities that are on offer to staff and the company car is also a bonus.
Future plans:
I hope to obtain my RICS qualification and look forward to the Building team expanding and recruiting more graduates to add to the expertise.
